Biden in hot water

President Biden has had an incredibly hard few weeks. In his current state of frustration, he is at his Delaware beach house, weighing his choices that will determine how the election will go down. The president is feeling an immense amount of pressure, which is partially fueled by betrayal; many of his closest political friends have turned their backs on him in the past few weeks, and he senses the rise of a campaign that is designed to push him out of the race. A few important figures involved in this are Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama, the former House speaker and former president respectively.

The events that have unfolded in the past few days are completely shocking to the public, as nothing like this has ever happened before. Never, in any American election, had a certain political party participated in efforts to push out a candidate representing the party. Yet, in this election, Democrats––many of whom have been the key to Biden’s success over the years––are working to remove the current president from the presidential election.

Biden has been closely monitoring the media, only to discover news reports claiming that Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Obama, Mr. Schumer, and many others have predicted a fall of the Democratic Party in the near future. On top of this, President Biden also took note that the former president had not backed him up when other members of the party voiced their urge for Biden to quit the elections. Despite President Biden publicly stating that he is to remain a candidate, his closest group has confirmed that Biden is slowly accepting that he may not continue in the elections.

Pressure is building quickly, as more and more congressional Democrats (such as Senator Martin Heinrich, Senator Sherrod Brown, and nine House Democrats) have publicly voiced their opinion of having another candidate face former President Donald Trump. Representative Seth Moulton, who considers President Biden a “mentor and friend”, is in the same boat, adding that the president didn’t even recognize him at the D-Day anniversary commemoration a month ago.

On Friday, Biden waved away these accusations and claimed that he will be continuing on in the race, saying, “I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms, and create opportunity for everyone.” As of right now, Biden is still holding on strong. But much can change between now and this fall.
