Note: This was received in response to the article "The Downfall of the American Way" and was edited for clarity.

In the article “The Downfall of the American Way” one sentence shines out that summarizes the article.

“We seem to prefer a comfortable lie to the uncomfortable truth.”

This is a cultural problem because "truth is no longer exclusive” but relative. With this view truth becomes uncomfortable and it is easier to set it aside. When truth becomes relative it is no longer truth but what someone prefers to be the truth.
